Frost & Sullivan Releases the " 2026 China Enzyme-Based Cosmetics Market Research Report"
Enzymes are biological macromolecules synthesized by living cells with highly specific biocatalytic functions. Their core components are functional proteins that serve as natural catalysts for maintaining metabolism, growth, and development in living organisms. Enzymes can achieve precise catalytic transformation of specific target substrates without altering the reaction equilibrium and without being consumed in the process. This is enabled by their core properties, including specificity, high efficiency, mild reaction conditions, and biocompatibility, which make them theoretically well-suited to skincare applications such as skin metabolism regulation and barrier repair. In recent years, continuous breakthroughs in enzyme activation technologies have gradually addressed key technical bottlenecks in the production, storage, and application stages, including activity loss, limited skin penetration, and formulation incompatibility. As a result, enzyme-based cosmetics are moving rapidly from proof-of-concept toward large-scale commercialization. Looking ahead, as these technologies continue to mature and consumer demand for gentle yet effective skincare solutions continues to grow, enzyme-based cosmetics are expected to find application across a broader range of skincare scenarios, driving the cosmetics industry toward more precise and gentler product formulations.
