As traditional industries continue to upgrade, the logic of business growth and competitive strategies are evolving. The competitive barriers established in the past based on market size, product advantages, or a single business model are now facing new challenges. How can technological innovation be translated into practical applications? How can businesses find new growth opportunities in a changing market? How can they respond to unmet needs through product, service, and business model innovation? And how can they build long-term, sustainable capabilities while pursuing commercial growth? These are important issues for businesses to navigate through economic cycles. Especially now that artificial intelligence is rapidly integrating into various industries, from large-scale models and intelligent agents to embodied intelligence, low-altitude economy, commercial aerospace, bio-manufacturing, quantum technology, and other emerging future industries, the efficiency of transforming technological breakthroughs into industrial implementation is becoming a key measure of a company's competitiveness.
Behind these changes, the role of people remains irreplaceable. Industry development requires not only leading companies but also industry participants who can identify trends, drive innovation, sustain operations, and convert personal judgments into corporate practices. They may be company founders or core managers, or they may come from professional research and industry practice fields. The value they create is not only reflected in company size or market performance, but also in their contribution to industry development, response to industrial changes, and judgment of the future.
So, what kind of people can be called "Industry Development Leaders"? In a rapidly changing industrial environment, how should we re-understand "leadership" and "guidance"?
In the last two Forbes China Industry Development Leaders awards, Forbes China and the globally renowned growth consulting firm Frost & Sullivan collaborated to continuously monitor representative entrepreneurs, managers, and industry pioneers in various Chinese industries. They explored how they found opportunities and addressed challenges in industrial changes, forming a long-term perspective on China's industry development and corporate growth.
To further highlight the innovation ability, sustained operation ability, and judgment and planning regarding the future of the industry by industry leaders in the face of changes, Forbes China and Frost & Sullivan jointly launched the third Forbes China Industry Development Leaders award. This year's award will continue to focus on how industry pioneers achieve self-growth, empower companies and the industry. It will also extend observation to aspects such as innovative responses, business operations, and future development, seeking those leaders who have not only achieved industry success but also continuously drive industry changes and create long-term value. Additionally, the award will expand its scope from individuals to companies and brands. Through sub-awards such as leading companies in industry development, innovative brands in industry development, ESG benchmarks in industry development, and AI application benchmarks in industry development, it will record the practices of different types of enterprises in innovation, growth, sustainable development, and industry leadership.
When the boundaries of the industry are constantly redefined by technology, market, and new business models, what truly deserves attention is not just "who leads," but who is driving change and who can transform changes into sustainable industry value.
