Report Abstract
Printing materials refer to physical carriers used in the printing process to record and transmit graphic and text information, and are an important type of printing consumable. The upstream of the printing material industry includes raw material suppliers such as aluminum coils, chemical raw materials like acids and alkalis, liner paper, packaging materials, and photosensitive materials, among which aluminum coils are the main raw material for printing materials. The midstream consists of printing material manufacturers who, based on different printing processes, divide printing materials into offset printing materials and flexographic printing materials. Offset printing materials are further categorized into CTP (Computer-to-Plate) and PS (Polystyrene) materials according to imaging techniques. The main sales models of printing material manufacturers include distribution and direct sales. The downstream application areas mainly include the printing industry, including books, newspapers, commercial advertising, labels, and packaging.
In the entire industrial chain, the development and operational conditions of upstream and downstream industries are highly correlated with the industry itself, especially as fluctuations in the price of upstream aluminum coils directly affect the production and cost of printing materials. Thanks to industrialization and standardized production, sufficient raw material supply, and a complete supply chain system, the upstream industry is basically in a state of perfect competition with prices following market conditions. The downstream demand side is influenced by various factors such as economic development, industry prosperity, and disposable income of residents. Leading Chinese printing material manufacturers also focus on overseas markets such as Europe and Southeast Asia. In addition to being affected by the aforementioned factors, the demand for overseas printing material markets is also influenced by trade policies.
From 2020 to 2022, in terms of offset printing material exports, China's export scale to Europe increased from $11,460.0 million to $23,980.3 million, with an annual compound growth rate of about 44.7%. China's export scale to Spain increased from $1,450.1 million in 2020 to $2,481.5 million in 2022, with an annual compound growth rate of about 30.8%. For a long time, some well-known overseas printing material manufacturers have had monopolistic advantages in key raw materials and high-end products. With the continuous strengthening of R&D investment by leading Chinese printing material manufacturers, breakthroughs have been made in areas such as photosensitive adhesive and flexographic printing materials, breaking the long-term technological monopoly of foreign companies and laying a solid foundation for achieving domestic substitution. This has promoted the high-quality development of China's printing material industry and the printing industry. In the European and Spanish markets, the technological progress of Chinese printing material enterprises is conducive to breaking the dominance of foreign monopolistic enterprises, reinvigorating the printing material market, and promoting the healthy development of overseas printing material markets and the printing industry.
