In June 2026, Frost & Sullivan released the 2025 China Hotpot Industry Research Report. The report notes that China’s catering industry has continued to grow steadily, with hotpot standing as the largest category within Chinese cuisine. Supported by highly social dining occasions, broad ingredient choices and strong standardization potential, China’s hotpot market reached approximately RMB660 billion in 2025 and is expected to exceed RMB1 trillion by 2030, indicating substantial room for continued growth amid branding, chain expansion and high value-for-money consumption trends.

Sichuan-Chongqing hotpot is one of the core mainstream segments in China’s hotpot market. According to the report, Sichuan-Chongqing hotpot accounted for approximately 66% of China’s hotpot market by revenue in 2025, with a market size of around RMB440 billion. As consumers place greater emphasis on health, freshness, quality and dining atmosphere, leading Sichuan-Chongqing hotpot brands are continuing to innovate in ingredient quality, soup base flavors, supply chain efficiency and store experience, driving the market toward higher value-for-money, healthier, more distinctive and more standardized development.

The report also highlights brands such as Banu Maodu Hotpot as key case studies of differentiated competition in the Sichuan-Chongqing hotpot market. Featuring “maodu and mushroom soup” and adhering to its “productism” brand philosophy, Banu has strengthened dish quality and operational consistency through natural ingredients, maodu processing technology, customized central kitchen production and chilled distribution.
