As automotive intelligence advances, functional upgrades continue to raise the per-vehicle value of passenger car seats. As the "third space" concept becomes embedded in smart cockpits, seats are evolving from support and safety components into core interfaces between occupants and vehicles, with deeper integration into cockpit domain controllers, in-vehicle operating systems and scenario-based modes.
Smart cockpit penetration, wider adoption of new energy vehicles, rising consumer expectations and growing demand for safety and wellbeing are accelerating the integration of electric adjustment, heating, ventilation, lumbar support, massage and memory functions. Seat design is moving beyond standalone features toward coordinated control of posture, support, thermal comfort and relaxation, together with occupant sensing, health monitoring and active intervention. The industry is evolving toward scenario-based experiences, modular platforms and integrated systems.
From 2020 to 2025, the global and Chinese automotive seat markets expanded steadily, with China growing faster; both are expected to continue expanding through 2030. Functional modules are set to grow more rapidly: the global and Chinese markets are forecast to increase from RMB33.50 billion and RMB11.95 billion in 2025 to RMB73.51 billion and RMB32.28 billion in 2030, respectively, led by massage and lumbar support modules.
