Precision motion stages are core functional components that enable high-precision positioning, scanning, transfer and orientation adjustment in semiconductor and other advanced equipment. By integrating motion mechanisms, drives, displacement measurement and control units, they support processing, assembly and inspection operations. In semiconductor applications, precision motion stages are primarily used in metrology and inspection, patterning and wafer bonding equipment. Their positioning accuracy, motion stability and dynamic response are important factors affecting overall equipment accuracy and productivity. As semiconductor manufacturing advances toward finer patterns, more complex device structures and higher-density packaging interconnects, the technical requirements for precision motion stages continue to increase.
Semiconductor capacity expansion and increased equipment investment in China, together with growing requirements for stage performance and configuration driven by process upgrades, support the continued development of the precision motion stage industry. Metrology and inspection equipment remains a major source of demand, while advanced packaging development creates further demand for stages used in wafer bonding equipment. The market is relatively fragmented, with both overseas motion control specialists and domestic suppliers participating in competition. As China’s semiconductor equipment industry develops, domestic stage suppliers are gradually expanding their participation in the local equipment supply chain through customer qualification, product improvements and stronger support capabilities.
