It is a product of the combination of art and commerce. Modern decorative art has characteristics such as massification and accessibility; it is becoming increasingly closely related to people's real lives. Due to its affordable prices, most consumers can easily accept it. Decorative art differs significantly from various painting works as art collectibles in terms of main functions, consumer groups, production models, marketing channels, etc. Modern decorative art products have made previously expensive artistic forms such as oil paintings accessible to the general public with their affordable prices. According to production methods, decorative art can be divided into hand-painted, printed, and crystal porcelain paintings; according to materials and techniques, it can be divided into canvas craft paintings, wood panel craft paintings, glass craft paintings, etc.

The upstream of the decorative art industry includes raw material suppliers and processing equipment manufacturers, including suppliers of raw materials such as canvas, pigments, glass, polystyrene, density board, lines, nails, glue, etc., as well as manufacturers of processing equipment such as wood strip cutters and automatic sealing machines. The midstream consists of decorative art production enterprises, mainly producing printed, hand-painted, and crystal porcelain paintings. The downstream mainly includes channel partners and end consumers, with channel partners including e-commerce, distributors, retailers, and brand owners. Depending on the different business models of decorative art production enterprises, the position of the decorative art design link in the industrial chain varies. Under the OEM model, the decorative art design link is at the downstream of the industrial chain.

OEM, ODM, and OBM are three main business models in the decorative art industry. Under the OEM model, decorative art producers do not involve brand establishment or design development, focusing on production as their main business; decorative art brand owners are responsible for the design and branding of decorative art and entrust OEM manufacturers for processing and production. The Chinese decorative art industry is relatively fragmented, with many enterprises engaged in production, but most have small production scales, low brand awareness, and immature technology, facing significant pressure in industry competition. Leading Chinese decorative art production enterprises usually have an early business layout, outstanding technical capabilities, large production scales, and gradually integrate upstream and downstream of the industrial chain relying on their resource advantages, thereby further promoting the concentration of the industry.
