Driven by the wave of AI-driven intelligent computing, server operating systems are undergoing a fundamental shift in value—from passive management to active orchestration. In China, the market has moved beyond its early phases of domestic substitution and cloud adoption, fully entering the AI computing era. A defining feature of this stage is the efficient orchestration and intelligent scheduling of heterogeneous computing resources, including CPUs, GPUs, and NPUs.

In terms of market structure, domestic vendors have established a dominant position. Total new server installations in 2025 are projected to reach 4.48 million units, with the openEuler ecosystem accounting for over 57.3% of the market—commanding a clear lead across critical infrastructure sectors such as finance, telecommunications, and government services. This growth is primarily driven by national policies promoting technological self-reliance, rapid advances in AI, and increasingly stringent security and compliance requirements.

Looking ahead, the industry’s focus is shifting toward AI-native capabilities. Core areas of innovation will include deeper integration with large-model inference frameworks, the deployment of AI-powered intelligent operations (AIOps), and the embedding of built-in security mechanisms. Meanwhile, domestic vendors are actively expanding into emerging global markets—including the Middle East and Asia-Pacific—exporting mature, China-developed solutions. Over the next five years, these efforts aim to accelerate the transformation from technological catch-up to ecosystem leadership.
