Frost & SullivanFrost & SullivanMr. Zhang Jian, Partner and Managing Director of Frost & Sullivan's Greater China Region, was invited to attend the forum and delivered an opening speech for the 'Dairy Innovation' sub-forum, focusing on the current development status and future trends of the dairy industry track, and engaging in a discussion  New Era of Dairy Industry  .

Zhang Jianjun first briefly analyzed the current development status of China's dairy market, pointing out that  Dairy products cover multiple business segments, including liquid milk such as white milk and yogurt, as well as dry dairy products such as milk powder, butter, cheese, and light cream. By covering all consumer groups across the entire product line, it is conducive to further promoting the development of the dairy market.


The dairy industry has a long and complex industrial chain, covering multiple links such as feed planting and processing, dairy cow breeding, dairy farming, dairy product processing, wholesale and retail. At the same time, the development of the cold chain logistics industry has played an important role in ensuring the quality of dairy products and reducing circulation losses.



 According to a study by Frost & Sullivan,  With the advent of consumption upgrading and the popularization of national health awareness, China's dairy production and retail sales have been increasing year by year. National demand has driven the continuous expansion of the dairy market scale. Public knowledge about drinking milk has gradually enriched, and drinking milk behavior has also been gradually improving.  

Driven by factors such as increased disposable income among residents, diversification and high-endization of dairy products, and the development of new retail models, the consumption of dairy products and milk by Chinese residents has gradually increased, leading the dairy industry to develop rapidly on a large scale. Subsequently, Zhang Jian summarized five development trends in the Chinese dairy industry:


 Trend 1:  High-end  

Consumption upgrading drives different age groups of consumers to have different demands for milk powder; with the increase in per capita disposable income in China, people's pursuit of nutrition and etiquette is also constantly rising, making high-endization and category segmentation trends.

 Trend 2:  Enhanced concentration  

Major dairy companies in the midstream have accelerated their control over upstream farms+Self-built large-scale ranches, including leading large-scale ranches and international dairy giants, have joined forces to promote the annual per capita milk yield and milk production of dairy cows in China to reach international advanced levels.

 Trend 3:  Technological progress  

With the development and promotion of low-temperature liquid milk processing technology, more active protein content from natural milk can be preserved. This not only ensures a more comprehensive nutritional profile of the product but also extends its shelf life, breaking through the limitations of transportation and sales radius, which is beneficial for the national strategic layout of dairy companies.

 Trend 4:  functional  

Consumers have put forward more functional demands for liquid milk products, and adding professional ingredients is an inevitable path for dairy brands to meet consumers' functional needs.

 Trend 5:  Leisure  

With the leisureization of dairy consumption scenarios, diverse flavors have become a consumer concern; and the exploration of new flavors often comes with changes in dairy forms, evoking new consumption scenarios for consumers, not limited to breakfast snacks.

 

Zhang Jian pointed out that in recent years, China's dairy products have ventured into new tracks.  Dairy products, combined with coffee and baking, have become a new favorite in the industry. Instant milk coffee, novel tea drinks, etc., have also promoted market prosperity.



 New tea drink brands actively cater to the health-conscious consumer trend. The growth rate of powdered ingredients used in traditional milk teas has slowed down, and they are gradually replacing them with liquid products such as milk and new processed dairy products to meet consumers' new demands.   New combinations of dairy products and various consumer goods for promotionBend andCThe market is booming, and new-style tea drinks have officially launched differentiated competition. They have upgraded from traditional milk tea to more innovative ones such as cheese fruit tea, cheese tea, and milk tea, better meeting consumers' needs for tasting tea and enjoying top-quality beverages;   The use of innovative ingredients such as buffalo milk, ice cream, and raw cheese has met the demand for novelty and change in new tea drinks, customizing a richer and more diverse sensory experience.   .

In addition to new tea drinks, the Chinese cheese market has also developed rapidly.
