Q
From the perspective of economic development, what do you thinkAIHow profound will the revolution have an impact on China's economy and capital market, as well as on productivity?/What is the impact on production efficiency? Is it ultimately possible to significantly increase the profitability of listed companies?
Witnessing the drive by artificial intelligenceAlphaGoDefeating the world Go champion and last yearChatGPTAfter its sudden emergence, the phenomenonally explosive popularity of artificial intelligence has become an important milestone in the history of human civilization development. Similarly, this revolution driven by artificial intelligence will also have a profound impact on China's economy and capital market.
Firstly, artificial intelligence will significantly improve China's productivity, and the enhancement of production efficiency is gradually upgrading from perceptual intelligence to cognitive intelligence. Perceptual intelligence refers to the ability of computers and different devices to possess human-like perceptual abilities such as vision, hearing, and touch. By structuring and processing multi-source heterogeneous data and communicating with humans through these abilities, the efficiency improvements brought about by perceptual intelligence are already quite common in our daily lives, including face recognition in various scenarios and interactions with digital humans. Cognitive intelligence, on the other hand, draws inspiration from brain-like research and cognitive science based on perceptual intelligence. It combines cross-disciplinary knowledge graphs and other technologies to endow computers and different devices with human-like thinking and cognitive abilities. It is expected that with large-scale pre-trained language models and similarChatGPTAs the products continue to mature, the efficiency improvements brought about by cognitive intelligence will become more widespread.
Secondly, in the long run, the efficiency improvements brought about by artificial intelligence will lead to a transformation in China's labor force structure. Perceptual intelligence will replace low-skilled jobs to a certain extent (including security, telephone customer service, etc.), and such transformations have already been evident in China's business environment. Cognitive intelligence will replace repetitive skill jobs that require simple mental effort to a certain extent (including translation, graphic design, etc.).
Finally, from the perspective of its impact on the capital market, the improvement in labor efficiency and structural transformation of the workforce will be reflected in the capital market. Capital will flow into sectors and enterprises that have the greatest development potential, the most positive impact on human civilization, and that align with the direction of national policy formulation in this artificial intelligence revolution.
The impact on production efficiency is certain. As mentioned earlier, artificial intelligence technologies based on perceptual and cognitive intelligence will continuously improve the efficiency of different tasks. From the perspective of cost reduction and efficiency enhancement brought about by artificial intelligence, it will effectively help listed companies reduce operating costs, including sales expenses and management fees, thereby improving the net profit performance of listed companies and having a positive impact on listed enterprises and the entire capital market.
Q
China's developmentAIWhat major obstacles or challenges may be encountered in technology? In terms of policy, will China introduce a continuous stream of significant policies to drive this forward in the future?
From a technical perspective, computing power, as an important infrastructure for the development of artificial intelligence, especially during the recent phase of concentrated development of large-scale pre-trained language models, has reached a certain level of demand in China. Moreover, the development of computing power will directly affect the level of advancement of artificial intelligence technology in our country. Data is the key to algorithm models, especially when developing large-scale language models, special attention needs to be paid to issues related to personal information protection, including data sources, data processing, data security, and bias induction. Taking models from leading foreign manufacturers as an example,CodeBert,LAMDASubsequently, there have been revelations of biased, discriminatory, or inappropriate content, including derogatory remarks towards certain groups or distortions in the content or timing of certain topics. The occurrence of such issues is often due to data sources, and the quality of the data sources largely determines the excellence of the model.
From a policy perspective, there is no doubt that China's encouragement for the development of artificial intelligence is substantial.2017The "New Generation Artificial Intelligence Development Plan" issued by the State Council in [year] specifically mentions2025In the coming year, major breakthroughs should be made in the basic theories of artificial intelligence. Some technologies and applications should reach world-leading levels. Artificial intelligence should become the main driving force for industrial upgrading and economic transformation in China. Active progress should be made in the construction of an intelligent society. It is particularly proposed that the scale of the core artificial intelligence industry should exceed4,000Yuan, driving the scale of related industries to exceed5trillion yuan; by2030In 2023, the overall theory, technology, and application of artificial intelligence should reach the world's leading level, becoming a major global center for artificial intelligence innovation. The intelligent economy and society should achieve significant results, laying an important foundation for China to rank among the forefront of innovative countries and become an economic powerhouse. Among these, the scale of the core artificial intelligence industry should exceed1trillion yuan, driving the scale of related industries to exceed10trillion yuan.
In addition, in response to the specific challenges mentioned earlier, our country has also introduced a series of development policies. Taking 'East Data West Computing' as an example:2021year5month24On the same day, four ministries and commissions jointly issued the "Implementation Plan for the National Integrated Big Data Center Collaborative Innovation System Computing Power Hub," proposing the layout and construction of national integrated computing power network hub nodes, accelerating the implementation of the "East Data West Computing" project. Further network transmission channels will be opened up between national hub nodes to improve cross-regional computing power scheduling levels. Exploration and practice in cloud computing services, data circulation, data applications, security assurance, etc., will be strengthened to play a demonstrative and leading role, providing important assistance in solving China's computing power needs for artificial intelligence.
Q
What significant challenges and opportunities will traditional Chinese internet giants face?
In fact, during the development of artificial intelligence in our country, traditional Chinese internet giants (which are what we commonly refer to as Alibaba, Baidu, Tencent, Douyin Group, and JD.com) have not been absent. They have even become important participants in the infrastructure and application aspects of artificial intelligence in our country.
Take Baidu as an example,2018Announced in “All In AIAfter the strategic launch, Baidu has taken the lead in delivering a remarkable result in this year's large-scale language model competition. Although there is still room for improvement compared to foreign models, as a domestic vendor, it has made up for the shortcomings of foreign models in the Chinese language corpus environment. Baidu's Wenxin Large Model can generate excellent works for different fields based on different keyword and scenario requirements. For example, it can generate a beautiful painting by inputting a sentence or a description of text.2022year7In January, the Wenyang-textile-textile Large Model "completed" the missing scroll of the world-famous painting "The Song of Rich Spring," and also composed a poem, which elicited exclamations from everyone.
After Baidu released the Wenxin Large Model, Alibaba Cloud also launched a large language model with hundreds of billions of parameters, "Tongyiquanwen" Integrating multimodal knowledge understanding, it possesses strong copywriting capabilities, and these abilities are applied to empower the office collaboration software DingTalk under Alibaba. DAMO Academy, an R&D institution under Alibaba, has always been at the forefront of artificial intelligence technology research in China, dedicated to exploring the unknown through technology and driven by human aspirations, conducting basic scientific research and innovative technology development.
We believe that traditional internet giants have always been actively involved in the development of artificial intelligence in our country and will continue to be at the forefront of technological development.
